One of their long-standing faucet models required urgent maintenance support, and the company needed to reproduce a precision brass valve spindle used inside the faucet’s internal control system.

However, the project quickly turned into a challenging engineering task. The original design drawings had been lost, and the only reference available was a heavily corroded sample part taken from an old faucet assembly.

Key Challenges

1. No Design Drawings or Digital Model

Challenge:
The client had completely lost the original design files, including 2D drawings and 3D models. This meant the entire part had to be recreated without any digital reference.

To make matters more complicated, the only sample provided was severely rusted and worn, with damaged threads and partially eroded step features.

This made it impossible to simply measure the part directly.

2. Extremely Tight Sealing Requirements

Faucet valve components require very high dimensional accuracy. Even micron-level deviations can result in water leakage or poor valve operation.

The worn sample made it difficult to determine the original tolerances and mating surfaces, which are critical for proper sealing performance.

3. Restoring Original Geometry from a Damaged Part

The corrosion and wear had distorted several important dimensions of the component. Recovering the true original geometry required more than just measurement—it required engineering interpretation.

1. Reverse Engineering & Dimensional Reconstruction

Our senior engineering team led a reverse engineering process to reconstruct the part.

This included:

  • Careful measurement of the remaining geometry on the damaged sample

  • Analysis of thread patterns, step transitions, and sealing surfaces

  • Estimation of the original dimensions before wear occurred

Based on this analysis, we rebuilt the part digitally and produced complete 2D and 3D drawings for the client.

2. High-Precision CNC Machining

Once the design was confirmed, the part was manufactured using:

  • CNC turning for the stepped cylindrical structure

  • CNC milling for detailed features and finishing

To ensure reliable sealing performance, machining tolerances were tightly controlled within 0.005–0.01 mm.

This level of precision ensured the spindle would fit perfectly within the faucet valve assembly.

Because the component operates in a moist, water-exposed environment, material stability is critical.

We selected high-purity brass, providing:
