Our customer is a large energy equipment supplier based in Yekaterinburg, Russia, serving drilling platforms and hydraulic systems for Siberian oil and gas fields.
In recent years, shifts in the regional supply chain forced the customer to seek alternatives to high-cost European components—without compromising on quality, reliability, or response time. They were looking for a Chinese manufacturing partner capable of delivering European-level precision, while also supporting fast engineering communication and export logistics.
This project marked the beginning of a strategic supplier transition.
Product Type: Hydraulic distributor spool (control valve core)
Material: High-strength Hpb59-1 brass
Application: Hydraulic power systems for drilling platforms
Operating Conditions: -40°C to 80°C extreme temperature range
The component is responsible for directing high-pressure oil flow inside the hydraulic system. Any dimensional deviation or internal contamination could result in leakage, system failure, or complete equipment shutdown.
Hydraulic components used in Siberian oilfields must remain mechanically stable under extreme cold.
Challenge:
Standard brass materials can become brittle at very low temperatures, increasing the risk of micro-cracks during operation.
Our Solution:
We strengthened material control at the earliest stage by:
Performing spectral analysis on incoming raw material to strictly limit impurity content
Applying secondary annealing after machining to eliminate residual stress
This ensured long-term structural stability and resistance to cold-induced cracking.
The spool design featured five precision stepped outer diameters, each critical to hydraulic sealing performance.
Challenge:
The drawing specified a cylindricity tolerance within 0.005 mm across all steps to achieve near-zero leakage.
Our Solution:
Instead of relying solely on CNC turning, we:
Introduced precision external cylindrical grinding for final finishing
Designed a custom carbide center support to prevent deflection caused by the part’s length-to-diameter ratio
Final inspection showed stable cylindricity at 0.003 mm, exceeding the customer’s requirement.
The spool contained eight deep circumferential blind holes, which posed a serious contamination risk.
Challenge:
Brass chips tend to adhere to hole bottoms. If left behind, they can enter the hydraulic system and cause catastrophic failure.
Our Solution:
We implemented a multi-step cleaning strategy:
High-pressure internal coolant drilling at 7 MPa to evacuate chips during machining
An additional high-pressure water jet cleaning process
Individual borescope inspections to confirm complete debris removal
This ensured absolute cleanliness before final assembly.
Precision CNC turning for primary geometry
Cylindrical grinding for sealing surfaces
High-pressure internal coolant drilling
Stress-relief annealing
100% inspection of critical dimensions
Internal cleanliness verification
Each step was tailored specifically for this component’s performance requirements.
The finished parts were fully compatible with the customer’s existing systems and passed all performance tests under simulated field conditions.
Excellent dimensional compatibility with European reference parts
Stable performance during high-pressure testing in low-temperature environments
Smooth surface finish exceeding customer expectations
The customer’s Chief Engineer commented:
“Your parts are not only dimensionally interchangeable, but the surface finish quality exceeded our expectations. The components performed very reliably during pressure testing in Siberia. We also appreciate your strong support with export logistics and customs clearance.”
This project highlights our strengths in:
Precision CNC machining for hydraulic components
Advanced brass material processing
Extreme-condition application support
Engineering-driven problem solving
Reliable international delivery coordination
We don’t simply replace parts—we help customers replace supply risks.
Hydraulic components used in extreme environments demand more than standard machining.
They require material expertise, process discipline, and uncompromising quality control.
At Honscn, we deliver CNC-machined hydraulic solutions built to perform where failure is not an option.
